"To eat an apple going to bed/Will make the doctor beg his bread." Apples are easily digested and contain solvents, stabilizers, muscle builders, brain and body builders, oxygen carriers and bone builders in the form of various minerals.
The fruit sugar from the apple is readily available and quickly passes into the bloodstream. The malic and tartaric acid in the apple neutralize any overacidity in the body. That is why apples are often used in monofasts to detoxify the body, overcome digestive problems, and help with gout.

Eat sweet apples if you have too much acid in the system. Eat sour apples if you have too little acid, and/or are constipated.
Apples are a great tooth cleanser.
Apples are fine first aid. Use them raw, peeled and grated as a poultice, or roast the apple in an oven and extract the pulp. Use this pulp on the eyes to relieve any kind of strain or inflammation. Overripe apples are used in some parts of England to relieve rheumatic and weak eyes. Raw, overripe, or roasted apple pulp can be used to good effect as a poultice on any type of sprain.
Apple water is a good cooling drink for fever. In American pioneer medicine, apple bark decoction was used to bring down high fevers.
Vinegar made from apples has many medicinal and health uses. Apple cider vinegar is an excellent cosmetic aid and can be mixed with rosewater for a daily restorative face splash. Use a cup of apple cider vinegar in a bath to soften the skin and to help reduce fatigue.
