Poison Ivy

Aloe Vera Apply plant juice from the inside of the leaf of this houseplant directly on poison ivy blisters.

Goldenseal Make a thick paste or lotion from the powdered root, and apply it with, or without, apple cider vinegar. This helps to contain the spread of the poison on the skin and to relieve the itching.

Jewelweed This lovely yellow flower will frequently grow quite near poison ivy stands. Apply the sap from the stems for relief of itching. The potency of the plant varies from month to month.

Oatmeal Add Aveeno, the colloidal oatmeal, to bathwater, and also use it as a paste on the poison ivy. Regular oatmeal may be blended into little particles and used in somewhat the same fashion.

Vinegar Apple cider vinegar washes, splashes, and baths will relieve the itching.

Miscellaneous Vitamin C (up to 3,000 milligrams) and tablets of pantothenic acid will help also to reduce the swelling. ash skin with brown soap and water and change clothing as soon as there is a known exposure.
