Slippery Elm
Powdered slippery elm lozenges are available for sore throats, and they are quite healing. The powder made from the inner bark can also be purchased from botanical sources. This is an exceptionally healing substance. It can be used as a paste and applied to sores, bruises, wounds, or mixed with other healing herbs in ointment or paste. I like it mixed with comfrey root ointment or calendula lotion or ointment, and I sometimes mix it with goldenseal, as a paste. Kloss, in Back to Eden, is strong in his praise of this herb and suggests its use as a suppository for vaginal problems.
