Cherry
Wild cherry bark is still in the official pharmacopoeia and is thus available, in syrup form, to overcome colds and irritating coughs from bronchitis. Use a teaspoon of the syrup in 2 tablespoons of water every three hours (adult dose). Collect the bark fresh each season because it deteriorates quickly. It has the odor of almonds which almost disappears, but which emerges again when the bark is powdered. See syrup recipe or release the bark in alcohol or water, but do not boil it, as heat destroys its medicinal value.
