Chilblain Cayenne Avoid frostbite or the effect of cold by adding cayenne pepper and an inert powder, such as cornstarch or talcum powder, to the inside of shoes or ice skates. Cayenne keeps the body warm. Add a pinch of cayenne to hot herbal drinks before going outdoors.
Ginger Drink weak ginger tea, bathe in weak ginger baths, and add ginger powder to shoes (as above) to avoid feeling cold.
Onion Roast an onion for a poultice on minor frostbite, broken skin, and chilblains. If the skin istill unbroken, you
may use a raw onion on the skin.

Potato Add a small amount of vegetable oil to the inside ,"meat" of a baked white potato, and apply the potato to the frostbite area.
Prevention: Water * Bathe the feet and hands frequently in really cold water to develop a resistance to the cold.
Miscellaneous Wear layers of clothing and a hat during extremely cold weather. Do not drink alcoholic substances.
