Neuralgia Allspice Allspice berries give off a heady aroma of cinnamon, cloves, pepper, and juniper berries. To use the berries for rheumatic pain, boil them and prepare a thick paste from them (the medicinal values are in the rind). Place the paste in a folded cloth and apply that as a poultice to the area of the pain.
Celery Drink celery juice, or brew up celery tea and drink it several times a day to help alleviate some forms of sciatica or neuralgia. The celery may also be added to other greens when you prepare freshly extracted juice.
Chamomile Stuff small bags with chamomile (several tea bags will do). Infuse them in 1/4 cup boiling water, and apply them as hot as possible to the inflammation or neuralgic pain. This is quite helpful in facial neuralgia, too.

Coltsfoot Soak a handful of dried coltsfoot leaves in boiling water and use them on back and loin neuralgic pains for a soothing poultice. Coltsfoot leaf tincture may also be prepared in advance. Add a few drops of the tincture to boiling water. Dip a cloth into the hot water, wring it out, and apply it as a compress to the area of pain.
Horseradish Scrape horseradish and apply the scrapings directly to the face to quickly relieve facial neuralgia. If the scrapings are held in the hand, the hand will also become numb and white.
Juniper Berries Apply the bruised juniper berries to rheumatic or neuralgic swellings or to any painful area for effective and lasting relief.
Lemon The Chinese cut and rub fresh lemons on a neuralgic area to relieve the pain.
Peppermint Oil The Chinese produce a crystalline oil of peppermint (Po ho yo) that is very high in menthol. This can be rubbed over the neuralgic area, facial tic douloureux, or for neuralgic toothache.
